Bergeson Interior Alterations | BERG_SINK_2016_1800_W_1200_H_180_DPI.jpg

A subtractive rather than additive approach is employed for the major interior remodel of a modestly sized, two-story residence.

The removal of walls and ceiling joists and a limited materials palette define an open kitchen and dining area with simple and well proportioned spatial volumes. A French door, corner windows, and clerestory windows open the spaces and allow an abundance of natural light. An array of light fixtures provides effective task lighting and a wide variation in ambient lighting choices.

The master bathroom’s iridescent glass tile and fused plate glass along with a curvaceous wall and counter top provide a sensuous bathing and showering environment.

In the small guest bathroom, a floating, fused glass counter top replaces a traditional base, cabinet and counter top. Reflective glass tiles, a large mirror, and the new counter top assembly combine to remake a space that belies its size.
