The new owners of a luxury six thousand square foot house with Willamette River frontage asked for our design assistance in transforming their home into a weekend and a summer retreat and for frequently entertaining guests. Breakfast room modifications along with a new kitchen layout were requested to accommodate two refrigerators and two dishwashers while maintaining the existing kitchen and breakfast room walls in place. The character of the interior modifications was required be in concert with the French chateau aesthetic of the exterior. New plaster over-sized columns, pilasters, and ceiling beams together with stone flooring, wood cabinetry and built-ins, a country sink, and a custom exhaust hood are integrated into a design to shift a 1980’s era kitchen into a country kitchen for a high-end residence.
